Continuing Education Program

What is the Continuing Education Credit (CEC) program?

Continuing education is a mandatory requirement for annual licensure as per Regulatory Bylaw 15(2)(a) . The Continuing Education Credit program (CEC) is adjudicated by SCRT’s Continuing Education Committee and is designed to support the ongoing continuous quality improvement of all its members. Credits are accumulated over a two-year period and submitted during an annual audit.

The program is designed to enhance a Respiratory Therapist’s ability to provide safe, competent, and ethical patient care. Continuing education includes many types of learning opportunities, from day-to-day forms of learning, such as rounds, webinars and consultations with a colleague to formal education such as conferences, employer-based workshops and certifications, and academic diplomas and degrees.
