Accredited Programs

Respiratory therapy education programs in Canada are approved by each province and accredited by Accreditation Canada. Saskatchewan does not have its own RT program, however; the government of Saskatchewan has an Interprovincial Health Sciences Training Agreement with Alberta’s Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) to allow Saskatchewan students to enroll in health sciences programs that are not available in the province.

Saskatchewan students enrolled in these programs complete the clinical portion of their training in the province. This helps ensure students can transition into the labour market in the Saskatchewan health care system after graduation.

Students enrolled in these programs are eligible for various financial supports to help fund their education which include Clinical Placement Bursaries, Return-in-Service Bursaries, the Saskatchewan Advantage Scholarship, and the Graduate Retention Program.

RT Graduates from approved programs are eligible for a Graduate Practicing licence and must write the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care (CBRC) National Examination. Upon successful completion of the CBRC exam, graduates can receive a Full Practicing licence, provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.
